Lothar is relaxed host and a really great guy, a big Rolling Stones fan with a fantastic selection of music and books which he's happy to lend you he is also an excellent cook and if he offers to makes your bread or cakes you CANNOT say no! We left feeling so rejuvinated after this stay and have very fond memories of eating ice cream whilst watching some 'krimi' on the tv with him.As of July ’22, our Ultimate TREEHOUSE is complete!!! And YOU GET BOTH the Treehouse AND the Amazing Cabin with your rental! The Treehouse is 38′ Tall, (3) levels tall w/ (3) separate staircases, has a full bathroom with shower and bidet, small kitchen, Queen Bed, Living Room w/ 55″ Sony + Directv, Dining Nook, and Game Loft! We did, however, visit Rottweil several times and accompany Lothar on a work trip into the Schwarzwald once. If you want to explore the local area a lot, it would really be best if you had a car.

The countryside around is gentle hills, farmland and some forest, ideal for casual walks. The house is in a village not far from Rottweil but public transport is very limited, a couple of buses a day. We would have breakfast all together then walk his two dogs Dusty and Emma, both of whom are lovely, friendly, cuddly, beautiful and fun, we really enjoyed our afternoon adventures with those two. We were more like helpful couchsurfers, which Lothar also hosts, usually for shorter periods. It was so relaxing and really very little work, but we can't guarantee it is representative of every stay. Our stay coincided with his wife's work trip away, so we helped around the house with cooking, cleaning and walking the dogs. Lothar previously accepted workawayers to help with his log building projects, but he didn't have one while we stayed. Our stay was a bit different from the norm, I think.

We stayed with Lothar for about 10 days last October and it couldn't have been nicer! He accepted us last minute, which was so useful for us, and picked us up from Rottweil railway station his house (which he built himself!) is a stunning log cabin and staying there is a totally luxurious surprise. Other than that I advise everyone interested or not in log-building to go over and check it out you will not be disappointed!īirgit, Lothar, Thanks for your time and love. Knowledge is key but also expensive and few will share theirs freely.Īlso life in Lothar's house is peaceful and quiet, a runaway dog from time to time makes an interesting night running around the fields!!
